    Professional US skier Kyle Smeen was one of two people killed in an avalanche in Japan on 29 January. Kyle, age 31, was skiing in Japan on a marketing trip, Mountain Gazette when he and four others got caught in an avalanche. Grant Gunderson photographer who was present for the avalanche, called it an “absolutely worse nightmare scenario.” Instagram, Grant reveals that Kyle was “thrown 50 meters away by the air blast and buried dead.”

    Kyle’s family, friends, and fellow skiers are mourning his passing. His wife, Jenna Dramisshared a heartbreaking tribute for the late athlete on Instagram. Here’s everything you need to know about Kyle.

Kyle was a freestyle skier.

Kyle started skiing at the age of 2. As a professional, he has competed in several major skiing competitions on behalf of the US, such as the 2016 Winter X Games in Oslo, Norway, and the Austria Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships.

He won the gold medal.

Kyle came first in the men’s halfpipe at the 2016 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships, winning the gold medal. He JProposal Pollet-Villard from France and Yannick Lergen from Switzerland.

He was active on Instagram before his death.

Kelly shared a video While skiing in Japan the day before he died. He said he returned to Japan because of the “incredible snow quality, non-stop storms, and really fun terrain that just gets better the more you explore.”

Jenna Dramis honored Kyle on Instagram following his death, sharing tons of photos and a heartwarming message where she revealed they had married in November 2022 in secret. 13 years later,” Jenna wrote. She added, “I wish I could tell you one secret I’ve always had: I loved you. It was never a secret because I said it to you at least 10 times a day. I can’t wait to see you again. I hope to ride some pow or bike with you in my dreams tonight. Love your wife
