What is the job of a superhero? Defeat evil and save the world. And, this is what a Hindustani superhero is coming to do on Christmas. His superpowers are similar to those shown by the DC Comics hero Shazam on screen. It also has supernatural power like lightning. The name of this superhero film is ‘Minnal Murali’ whose trailer has been released by Netflix on Thursday. Set in the 90s, the film tells the story of a common man who becomes a superhuman after being struck by lightning. In this film, the favorite star of Malayalam films Tovino Thomas will be seen in an unseen avatar of the superhero. Along with Malayalam, the film is also released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English.
Talking about his unique film, Minnaal Murali director Basil Joseph says, “I have always been a fan of superhero fiction. From comic books to superhero movies. I wanted to work on superhero stories that would captivate the audience at large and that dream came true with ‘Minnaal Murali’. I want to thank all the people who gave me this opportunity. Tovino’s passion and Netflix’s vision made our dream come true.”
While narrating his excitement about the film ‘Minnal Murali’, the film’s hero Tovino Thomas says, “The film ‘Minnal Murali’ is a story that will captivate and keep everyone hooked till the end. I am playing the very mysterious character of Jason aka Minnal Murali. He gets electrocuted and gets supernatural powers. Playing the character of ‘Minnal Murali’ was a tough challenge for me. It was a long adventure of two years and the entire team worked hard day and night, that is, Minnal Murali is the superhero we could all aspire to be!”
Guru Somasundaram, Harishree Ashokan, and Aju Verges have been selected to support Tovino Thomas in the film ‘Minnal Murali’. Producer Sofia Paul Basil Joseph’s directorial ‘Minnal Murali’ is to premiere on Netflix on December 24, 2021. The story, screenplay, and dialogues of the film are written by Arun AR and Justin Mathews. The film has lyrics by Manu Manjitho and music by Shaan Rahman and Sushin Shyam.
